Abstract 

The seminar introduces participants to a range of methodological options in impact evaluation, focusing in particular on the hybrid, qualitative-quantitative options of Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) and formally Bayesian Process Tracing, discussing their differences, main advantages, limitations, and combination possibilities.

  • Barbara Befani - Guest Speaker
    National Centre for Social Research
    Barbara Befani is an evaluation specialist with 20+ years of experience in research, training, community building, and advisory work. She has been a research fellow and visiting fellow in several universities, and advisor to a wide range of national and international government agencies, multilateral and non-governmental organisations. An influential author and innovator, she has been Secretary General of the European Evaluation Society (EES) and member of several national evaluation societies. She currently leads the Qualitative Impact Evaluation team at the UK National Centre for Social Research (NatCen).
