Pre-college skills and educational wage differentials

FBK-IRVAPP is pleased to invite you to the following seminar: Fatigue and experience effects in large-scale assessments: Pre-college skills and educational wage differentials.
With the participation of: Tuomas Pekkarinen.

Language The seminar is held in English.

Abstract We examine the impact of changes in pre-college male worker ability distribution on wage inequality. We use Finnish military conscripts’ cognitive and non-cognitive test results matched with educational and labor market outcomes. The increase in educational attainment has resulted in less selected college-goers in terms of within-cohort skill percentiles, but positive cohort trends in ability fully reverse this dilution in terms of skill levels. The cohort trends in skills have slightly exacerbated the college wage premium.

The seminar will be held on the web conference platform Google meet.
