2nd Call for the Best Paper in Public Policy Evaluation

We are delighted to open the 2nd call for nominations for Best Paper in Policy Evaluation related to FBK-IRVAPP’s Advanced School 2024.

What does the prize consist of?

The Research Institute for the Evaluation of Public Policies (IRVAPP) at the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) will award a prize of 1000 EUR for the best paper in Policy Evaluation.

In addition to the monetary prize, the author of the winning paper will be invited to present it at our yearly Advanced School organized in the winter of 2024 (January 22-24, 2024).

Who can apply?

We welcome papers (only in print or working papers) from doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, or assistant professors.

The paper has to tackle issues of public policy evaluation with a counterfactual approach. The paper needs to be innovative and thorough, both methodologically and in its critical lens, opening or advancing a debate on a specific public policy or issue more broadly, irrespective of the context or scale.

The papers have to be written in English.

Papers presented in the last edition are not eligible.

How can you apply?

Applicants need to:

1 – fill out the following form

2 – submit the following items to [email protected]:

  • The paper that is to be considered for the award
  • Curriculum vitae of the applicant

The closing date for applications is 31 December 2023. Applications may only be submitted in electronic form in English, by sending an email to [email protected].

Applicants may submit more than one paper and co-authored papers are accepted if all co-authors are doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, or assistant professors.

How is the selection done?

As the IRVAPP-Advanced School concerns mainly methodological issues, papers will be judged according to two criteria: i) their methodological soundness, as evaluated by the internal jury, ii) their innovative approach, both methodologically and in terms of the research question undertaken.

The applications will be evaluated by an internal jury and the decision on the winner of the prize will be announced by the 12th of January 2024.
