Smaranda Pantea

Smaranda Pantea is an Assistant Professor and Research Fellow at Prague University of Economics and Business. She is visiting FBK-IRVAPP from April to June 2023. Previously, she worked at the European Commission (at the Joint Research Centre and at DG GROW) and at the Ministry of Finance of Romania. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nottingham.

She is an applied economist with an interest in research that has direct policy implications. She works on two lines of research. The first line focuses on the digital economy and the ICT sector and their effects on the wider economy. The second line of research focuses on counterfactual evaluations of public policies, such as, changes in the minimum wage, tax exemptions, support for SMEs and start-ups and social vouchers.
